Assistant Studio Lead

Summary of Duties:
The Assistant Studio Lead plays a key supportive role in the daily operation of the Creative Arts Studio. Working closely with the Studio Lead, this position blends hands‑on program facilitation with growing administrative responsibilities, with the goal of learning and mirroring the major functions of the Studio Lead role.
This includes supporting studio work flow, maintaining equipment and supplies, tracking program outcomes, ensuring safety practices, and helping coordinate Creative Arts staff, volunteers, and scheduling. The Assistant Studio Lead acts as a backup to the Studio Lead when needed, ensuring continuity of operations and high quality service delivery.
This role is ideal for a skilled creative arts facilitator who is ready to expand their leadership, administrative, and operational capabilities in a therapeutic studio setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging, high‑quality creative arts programs across a variety of mediums.
- Adapt programming to resident abilities, interests, therapeutic needs, and safety considerations.
- Support safe operation of tools, equipment, and specialized studio machinery.
- Maintain a clean, organized, accessible studio environment and prepare materials for daily programs.
- Mentor and provide guidance to Creative Arts Instructors, students, and volunteers.
- Maintain accurate attendance, program data, and creative production statistics.
- Manage studio inventory, monitor supply usage, and purchase materials within approved budgets.
- Track equipment condition, maintain logs, and arrange repairs or servicing as needed.
- Assist with scheduling Creative Arts staff to ensure consistent program coverage.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support resident well being and care planning.
- Participate in meetings, training, and special events, including exhibitions of resident artwork.
- Support home wide initiatives and ensure compliance with safety, accessibility, and IPAC practices.
- Support exhibitions, special events, and showcases highlighting resident artwork.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Fine Arts, Studio Arts, or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience delivering creative arts instruction in therapeutic, community, or educational environments.
- Experience in long term care, healthcare, or specialized populations preferred.
- Leadership, mentorship, or supervisory experience are considered an asset.
- Current Food Handler's Certificate - can be obtained during employment.
- Strong communication skills in English; French is an asset.
